Dover third quarter revenue rose 8 percent to $2.2 billion, the diversified global manufacturer reported on October 22, 2026, for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Organic growth accounted for 7 percent of the rise. GAAP earnings from continuing operations reached $337 million, up 11 percent, and GAAP diluted earnings per share from continuing operations rose 14 percent to $2.50. On an adjusted basis, earnings from continuing operations were $388 million, up 7 percent, and adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 10 percent to $2.88.
Dover, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, makes equipment and components used across industries from food retail to semiconductor manufacturing. The company compared the quarter with the same period a year earlier, and the gains came on both the reported and the adjusted measures. This is important since adjusted figures strip out one-off items, so growth on both bases points to stronger trading rather than a single accounting gain.
The numbers
Dover third quarter results showed growth across the headline measures. Revenue of $2.2 billion was up 8 percent, with organic growth of 7 percent. GAAP earnings from continuing operations of $337 million increased by 11 percent, and GAAP diluted earnings per share of $2.50 was up 14 percent. Adjusted earnings from continuing operations of $388 million were up 7 percent, and adjusted diluted earnings per share of $2.88 was up 10 percent. The gap between the GAAP and adjusted earnings figures reflects items the company excludes from its adjusted view, and both measures moved in the same direction.
For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, Dover generated revenue of $6.5 billion, an increase of 8 percent, with organic growth of 6 percent. GAAP earnings from continuing operations for the nine months were $888 million, up 8 percent, and GAAP diluted earnings per share were $6.56, up 10 percent. Adjusted earnings from continuing operations were $1.1 billion, up 9 percent, and adjusted diluted earnings per share were $7.89, up 11 percent. The nine-month figures show the third quarter was not a one-off, since the full period grew at a similar pace.
What drove growth
Dover third quarter growth was led by its secular growth markets, according to President and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Tobin. He said, "Dover delivered strong results in the third quarter. Top-line growth accelerated, led by our secular growth markets in artificial intelligence and power generation infrastructure, energy transition, single-use biopharma, semiconductor manufacturing, and space launch." The comment names the areas where demand rose fastest, and they share a theme: customers building capacity for computing, power and drug production.
The rest of the portfolio also performed, Tobin said. He pointed to broad-based performance across the portfolio, including improving line rates in food retail as the company completed its footprint consolidation. Food retail is a steadier business than the growth markets, and improving line rates there suggest the consolidation work is paying off in day-to-day operations. A manufacturer that grows in both its fast markets and its steady ones has less riding on any single order book. That spread is part of what made the Dover third quarter reassuring to watch.
Full-year view
Dover third quarter results leave the company with nine-month revenue up 8 percent and adjusted earnings per share up 11 percent. The third quarter itself grew faster on the adjusted earnings measure than the nine-month average, which points to momentum building as the year went on. Investors watching industrial demand will read the Dover third quarter as a sign that spending on AI infrastructure, power generation and semiconductor capacity is still feeding through to suppliers.
The quarter also shows how Dover spreads its exposure. Artificial intelligence and power generation infrastructure sit beside energy transition, single-use biopharma, semiconductor manufacturing, space launch and food retail. A slowdown in one of those markets would still leave the others, and the third quarter showed several of them growing at once. Dover reported the quarter on October 22, 2026, and its full reconciliation of GAAP and adjusted measures is included as an exhibit to its release.
