FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A Parkview Health acquisition will carry one of Indiana's largest nonprofit health systems onto the national stage, the company announced October 16. Parkview has signed an agreement to acquire Ovation Healthcare, a Tennessee-based provider of shared services that supports more than 500 healthcare organizations across 48 states. The Parkview Health acquisition extends Parkview's operational reach into a national hospital-services business offering revenue cycle management, purchasing support, technology infrastructure and leadership advisory services. Following closing, the two companies will combine their complementary operations and operate under the Ovation brand. Parkview, based in Fort Wayne, operates 16 hospitals and is the largest rural healthcare provider in Indiana. The system says it understands the severe resource constraints facing rural hospitals nationwide — and sees the Ovation platform as a way to keep care close to home in the communities that need it most. ## What the Parkview Health Acquisition Means for Rural Hospitals Rural healthcare is in crisis across the country because of a lack of resources and workable business models, Parkview CEO Rick Henvey said. The Parkview Health acquisition brings administrative and operational expertise — including revenue cycle management and information services — to a premier national rural health platform. Through the platform, Parkview says it can help independent providers lower the cost of care with essential infrastructure, letting rural providers focus their resources on patient care while driving down administrative costs for local patients. "With Ovation Healthcare, we are extending Parkview's proven operational depth across the nation," Henvey said. "Rural healthcare is in crisis across the country because of a lack of resources and models that allow providers to succeed," Henvey said. "Through Ovation, we can help rural providers lower the cost of care with essential infrastructure and allow them to focus their resources on patient care." The Parkview Health acquisition builds on the system's 2025 decision to extend its operational capabilities beyond its own hospitals to independent providers. ## Ovation Healthcare and the Hospital Acquisition Strategy Ovation is described as a leading provider of shared services that strengthen the operational and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and physician practices. The hospital acquisition follows Parkview's 2025 launch of Upvia Health, its management-services business, and a series of affiliations and operational partnerships across Indiana. Parkview began expanding its operational capabilities to support independent healthcare providers in 2025. Through its investment in Ovation, the system can extend its commitment to a national shared-services platform that allows hospitals to focus on clinical care while lowering costs. The shared-services model gives smaller hospitals access to the back-office muscle of a large system — from billing and purchasing to information technology — without surrendering independence. Parkview says that independence is the point: the goal is to help providers remain independent while continuing to drive down administrative costs for local patients. ## Parkview Health Acquisition Timeline and Next Steps Management expects the Parkview Health acquisition to close within the coming weeks, subject to customary regulatory review and approvals. Once completed, the combined business will operate under the Ovation brand, giving Parkview a national platform for its shared-services push. For rural providers facing mounting financial pressure, the deal represents a bet that shared infrastructure — not consolidation — can keep independent providers viable. Whether the model delivers measurable administrative savings will be the test that investors and communities alike will watch.
