KEC International said on 24 October 2026 that it had won turnkey contracts worth Rs 2,872 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL). The contracts cover the design, supply and installation of high-voltage transmission lines at 765 kV, and the projects are linked to evacuating 8.5 gigawatts of renewable energy in Gujarat. The company described the deal as its largest-ever order for transmission and distribution work in India.
Chief Executive Vimal Kejriwal described the deal as "the largest-ever order for our Indian transmission and distribution business", according to The Economic Times. The description applies to transmission and distribution work in India, rather than to the company's total business or its other segments. Contract execution covers the design, supply and installation stages for 765 kV lines, placing KEC International in the role of building infrastructure to move power from the Gujarat projects to the grid.
KEC International order book passes Rs 13,500 crore
The new contracts lift the value of orders secured by KEC International since the start of the financial year past Rs 13,500 crore, according to figures reported by The Economic Times. Transmission and distribution accounted for about Rs 9,500 crore of that total, making it the largest specified part of the published order figures. The announcement gave no figure for resulting revenue or profit, and it gave no execution schedule or split of the contract value across stages.
A day earlier, KEC International had announced new orders worth Rs 1,006 crore across transmission and distribution, civil and cables. In that announcement, the company said total orders since the start of the financial year had passed Rs 10,600 crore. The PGCIL contracts announced the next day then lifted the reported total past Rs 13,500 crore. KEC International's shares closed at Rs 327.75 on 23 October, down 1.27 percent during the session, according to Upstox data. No share price or movement after the 24 October announcement was included in the available information.
KEC International and the Gujarat renewable energy link
The 8.5 gigawatts of capacity linked to the projects show the scale of transmission work tied to renewable energy in Gujarat. High-voltage transmission lines at 765 kV carry large volumes of power over long distances, and the contracts place KEC International at the centre of that build-out for Power Grid. The company has not disclosed a completion date for the lines, and the announcement did not break down the Rs 2,872 crore value across the design, supply and installation stages. The order figures reported so far leave transmission and distribution as the main driver of the company's order intake this financial year.
The two announcements in two days show how quickly the order total moved. On 23 October, the Rs 1,006 crore of orders spanned three segments, while the 24 October contracts concentrated on a single task, high-voltage transmission lines for Power Grid. The comparison matters because the second announcement alone was worth nearly three times the first. The published figures do not yet show how the new work will affect revenue in the current financial year, and KEC International has not guided on margins for the contracts.
Transmission and distribution work has supplied about Rs 9,500 crore of the Rs 13,500 crore order total, leaving the remaining orders spread across the company's other segments. The company announced the PGCIL contracts a day after the Rs 1,006 crore set, and the two together account for nearly Rs 3,900 crore of orders in two days. No further detail on project locations within Gujarat, beyond the Gujarat link, appeared in the announcement. The announcement gave no expected financial impact from the contracts.
