The Union Public Service Commission has declared the CDS II result 2026, the written result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2026. The CDS II result 2026 was announced on 19 October 2026, after the written examination held on 13 September 2026. A total of 8,956 candidates have qualified for the next stage, the Services Selection Board interview. The result is published as a PDF on the official website, upsc.gov.in, and it lists roll numbers rather than names.
CDS II result 2026: vacancies across academies
The CDS II result 2026 relates to 451 tentative vacancies notified under advertisement 11/2026-CDS-II. The CDS II vacancies span the Army, Navy and Air Force training academies. The Officers Training Academy in Chennai accounts for the largest share, with 275 vacancies for men and 18 for women. The Indian Military Academy in Dehradun has 100 vacancies, the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala has 26, and the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad has 32. The CDS II vacancies are tentative, and the service headquarters can revise the UPSC CDS II figures before training places are allotted. The UPSC CDS II notification covers five courses in all.
The courses linked to these vacancies start at different times. The Indian Military Academy course is the 163rd (DE) Course, and the Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy courses begin in July 2027. The Air Force Academy course is the 222 F(P) Pre-Flying Training Course. The Officers Training Academy courses are the 126th SSC courses for men and women, beginning in October 2027. Candidates who qualified will compete for these places through the SSB interview and the stages that follow it.
Some candidates appear in more than one course list in the result PDF, except in the case of Officers Training Academy (Women). That overlap is one reason the count of qualified candidates, 8,956, is larger than the count of roll numbers in any single list. Candidates should check every list that applies to the preferences they gave in the application.
What the SSB interview stage involves
The SSB interview is the next stage for every candidate named in the written result. The CDS II result 2026 sends 8,956 candidates into this stage. It is held in two stages, Stage I and Stage II, and it is followed by a medical examination and a final merit list. Qualifying in the written exam does not by itself secure a place. The final merit list, expected in 2027, will decide the order in which candidates are offered training places.
Candidates who gave the Army as their first preference need to register for the SSB interview on the Army recruitment website, joinindianarmy.nic.in. Reporting on the result warns that SSB call up information for Army candidates goes through the Recruiting Directorate on that site, and a missed registration can cost a candidate the interview slot. SSB call up letters were expected in October to November 2026, with interviews expected from November 2026 to February 2027. Those dates are expected dates reported after the result, and candidates should confirm them from the official notices.
How to check the CDS II result 2026
Candidates checking the CDS II result 2026 can open the written result PDF on upsc.gov.in from the written results section. The link to look for is the written result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2026. Once the PDF opens, candidates can search for their roll number and download the file for reference. No login is needed to open the result PDF.
The written result is a shortlist for the SSB interview, and it is not the final merit list. The provisional answer key for the written exam was published on 16 September 2026, three days after the exam. A name wise result was also reported on 26 October 2026, after the roll number list of 19 October. Candidates should keep both the roll number list and any later notice until the SSB interview schedule is confirmed for their academy. Candidates who qualified in the CDS II result 2026 should keep their roll number ready for the call up. The CDS II result 2026 remains the reference list until that schedule is confirmed.
