Hyundai Bayon India: Bookings Open, Launch on Oct 26

New Delhi — Hyundai Motor India has officially announced that the Hyundai Bayon India launch will take place on October 26, with deliveries scheduled to commence during the festive season. Bookings for the Hyundai Bayon India are already open online and at authorised dealerships for a token amount of ₹11,000.

The Bayon crossover will slot between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai's line-up, taking on rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Honda Elevate in the crowded compact SUV segment. The Bayon crossover carries distinctive H-shaped lighting, a sculpted design, roof rails and a modern cabin, in a package aimed squarely at urban family buyers.

Hyundai has confirmed that customers can book the Bayon online or at authorised dealerships for ₹11,000, with deliveries set to begin in the festive season. October is traditionally the strongest month for car retail in India, and Hyundai will want the Bayon in showrooms before Diwali to catch the peak buying wave.

Hyundai Bayon India: engine and gearbox

The Hyundai Bayon India is expected to use a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic on offer. The setup is proven and low-maintenance — a deliberate choice for a compact SUV segment where buyers rank reliability and running costs above outright performance. The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated format prioritises refinement and low maintenance over outright pace, matching the expectations of the family audience Hyundai is chasing.

The talking point is CNG. The Bayon will be the first Hyundai over 4 metres to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit, with reports pointing to an underbody tank arrangement that preserves usable boot space. A factory CNG option could make this the most distinctive CNG SUV India has seen in the compact class, giving high-mileage buyers a running-cost advantage that petrol rivals cannot match.

Hyundai Bayon India: positioning between Venue and Creta

Positioning is the Bayon's biggest question. It sits between two of Hyundai's best sellers, so the Bayon must carve out its own identity without cannibalising its siblings. Hyundai appears to be pitching the Bayon crossover as an urban alternative with fresher styling and the CNG option as differentiators, targeting buyers who find the Venue too small and the Creta too expensive.

The competitive set is formidable. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos and the entire compact SUV segment establishment will not give ground easily. Against them, the Hyundai Bayon India counters with the brand's wide service network, factory CNG fitment and festive-season timing, when discounts and exchange bonuses peak. Hyundai's after-sales network, among the widest in the country, remains one of its strongest cards against newer entrants.

Hyundai Bayon India: what to watch at launch

The October 26 launch will answer the key unknowns: final variant-wise pricing, colour options, interior trims and the exact feature list, plus whether the CNG version arrives on day one or follows later. The CNG SUV India pitch only works if the factory kit is available at launch and priced sensibly — a delayed CNG rollout would blunt the Bayon's sharpest edge.

If Hyundai prices the Hyundai Bayon India between the Venue and Creta without too much overlap, the crossover could become one of the festive season's volume stories for the Korean carmaker. With the festive season underway, Hyundai will be hoping the Bayon replicates the Venue's early success. The next few weeks will show whether Indian buyers make room for one more crossover in an already crowded garage.
