iCAUR V25 debuts with EV and range extender options

Chery's iCAUR brand has shown the iCAUR V25, a five-seat SUV that sits between the V23 and V27 in the brand's range, at the 2026 iCAUR International User Summit in Wuhu, China. The iCAUR V25 will come with a battery electric version and a range extender SUV version, and customers, media and partners saw the model at the summit. Selected global market introductions are planned from early 2027, according to reports from the event.

The iCAUR V25 follows the brand's Future Classic design language. It has a boxy shape, round headlights, squared off body panels and a rear mounted spare wheel. The SUV measures 4,636 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,855 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Those dimensions put it in the middle of the V series range, above the smaller V23 and below the larger V27.

iCAUR V25 powertrains

The range extender version uses a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine as a generator, so the engine charges the battery rather than driving the wheels. iCAUR calls the system Golden REEV and puts its thermal efficiency at 44.5 percent, with electricity generation of 3.71 kWh per litre of fuel. The battery electric version runs on battery power alone.

Power differs by version. The dual motor all wheel drive version has a combined output of 335 kW, or 455 PS, with 505 Nm of torque. The rear wheel drive version has a single 185 kW motor. Reported 0 to 100 km/h times are 5.8 seconds for the all wheel drive version and 8.5 seconds for the rear wheel drive version. The range extender version has a 33.67 kWh LFP battery, with a claimed electric range of 200 km for the all wheel drive version and 210 km for the rear wheel drive version on the CLTC cycle. Total claimed range with the fuel tank included is 1,210 km for the all wheel drive version and 1,240 km for the rear wheel drive version on the same cycle. Reports also put DC fast charging from 30 to 80 percent at 15 minutes.

The electric SUV uses a dedicated electrified vehicle platform that iCAUR calls the Swift Agile Handling Platform. As an electric SUV, the battery version suits buyers with home charging, while the range extender SUV version suits longer trips away from chargers. It has an intelligent all wheel drive system that adjusts torque by road conditions, and five driving modes. Towing capacity is 1,800 kg. A 6 kW vehicle to load function lets the car power outside equipment.

iCAUR V25 cabin and size

Inside, the iCAUR V25 has 41 storage compartments and up to 1,549 litres of luggage space. The front seats fold flat to form a resting area with the rear seats. Equipment reported at the summit includes a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats and a 15 speaker sound system. The cabin has a 15.4 inch central screen with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, and physical buttons sit alongside the screen.

Safety equipment reported for the model includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection and a 540 degree camera system. The brand also points to more than 20 factory fitted interfaces for accessories, so owners can add modular equipment for off road driving, camping and city use. Three officially customised V series models were shown at the summit, built around the V23, the V25 and the V27.

iCAUR V25 launch timing

Chery has not confirmed an India launch for the iCAUR V25, and reports from the summit note that plans for some markets, including the United Kingdom, are not confirmed. In China, the model is sold as a range extender, while the global version is set to come with both battery electric and range extender versions. Battery size, power output and prices for the battery electric version have not been announced in full.

The V25 completes the V series range for iCAUR, with the V23 below it and the V27 above it. Interest in the iCAUR V25 will depend on pricing for each market, which has not been announced. The first summit also included a customisation festival with around 20 customised vehicles from owners around the world. For buyers watching the brand, the next confirmed step is the start of selected global market introductions from early 2027.
