Amitabh Bachchan has told fans he needs more rest, two days after the 84-year-old actor said he had been advised to rest and recuperate.
Bachchan shared the latest Amitabh Bachchan health update on his personal blog on Friday, October 23, writing: "Yet more rest needed .. adjusting .. thinking and wondering .. the human body and its uniqueness."
The post came two days after his message on X on Wednesday, October 21, in which he told followers he would not be able to write to them for a few days.
"I beg your forgiveness; I've been advised to take some time off for a few days to rest and recuperate, so I'm not able to write anything," he wrote in the post.
While extending his Dussehra wishes earlier in the week, Amitabh Bachchan said he was under "very strict rest and recuperation" and had been told to limit communication for the time being.
"First Dussehra greetings to all .. love happiness, fulfilment, prayers. Under very strict rest and recuperation .. so am not allowed to communicate .. do excuse .. my apologies," he wrote.
The actor also asked fans to treat his short message as his full response to their greetings, adding, "But do take this as my respected response .. more hopefully later."
Reports said the Dussehra message came a day after Bachchan had mentioned on his blog that he had been asked to restrict his communication. The limit on contact drew attention among fans, and the actor addressed it with the rest updates on X and his blog.
Amitabh Bachchan knee injury on the KBC 18 set
Bachchan injured his knee earlier this month while shooting KBC 18, which he hosts. He slipped and fell during the previous day's shoot and delivered the show's opening monologue seated, saying standing was difficult for him.
"Usually, I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I have a knee injury," he said on the show. "Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell and injured my knee."
The actor reassured viewers that the Bachchan knee injury was not serious, pointing to his left knee as he spoke. He stood while interacting with contestants and sat only through the opening segment. Members of the studio audience wished him a speedy recovery.
Bachchan has not said whether the latest rest advice is linked to the Bachchan knee injury. He had also written on his blog in July about hospitalisation, surgery and intensive care without clarifying whether he was describing his own health or reflecting on illness and recovery in general.
Amitabh Bachchan upcoming films on the schedule
The health update comes as the actor continues work on upcoming projects. Amitabh Bachchan is expected to appear in Section 84, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and co-starring Nimrat Kaur, and in Kalki 2, the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, in which he will return as Ashwatthama.
Fans respond to the Amitabh Bachchan health update
Fans filled the comment sections of his posts with wishes for a speedy recovery after the latest update appeared. Amitabh Bachchan turned 84 earlier this month, and the pause in his regular writing drew immediate attention from followers used to his daily posts.
The update also follows a security scare in Mumbai. Police said a threat email received at the office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation mayor mentioned the actor, and checks found nothing suspicious. Reports have also suggested that suspects in the firing case involving actor Tiger Shroff's car had surveyed the homes of Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan before dropping the idea. The health update is unrelated to those incidents.
